Assuming a guitar amp with a non-adjustable bias:
Placing a tube with a higher number in the amp will run it HOTTER (i.e. Closer to Maximum plate dissipation).
Placing a tube with a lower number in the amp will run it Colder (i.e. Further away from Maximum plate dissipation).
